Varkala Sree Sarada Mutt
Varkala ,Sivagiri, Thiruvananthapuram
About this temple
The idol of Goddess Saraswati (Sharadamba) was consecrated by Sree Narayana Guru on May 1, 1912. The temple has a unique, pure white, octagonal design with windows—a major departure from traditional temple architecture—symbolizing openness, hygiene, and light. The Goddess is seated on a white lotus holding a book, a bird, a pot of nectar, and the chinmudra. Unlike conventional Hindu temples, the Sarada Mutt does not perform traditional tantric rituals, food offerings (nivedyam), or oil/ghee baths (abhishekam). Worship consists purely of reciting hymns and prayers . Working Hours : 4:30 AM–12 PM 4:30–7:30 PM
